All of the Ripley’s books are a huge hit with our students who are drawn in by the eye-popping full-color photos of strange-but-true oddities from around the world. The series is perfect for shared reading because the reader can’t help but express their reactions vocally, turning to their neighbor to ensure he or she is equally shocked and amazed. Our most reluctant readers are highly motivated to read the brief captions accompanying each photo by a desire to learn more about just what it is they are looking at.
